REVIEW – Fire pits have become a must-have backyard item. I have many friends that have many different brands and styles of firepit. I had a total DIY solution that was effective, but not very attractive, and always smoky. The Breeo X24 Smokeless Firepit solves both of those issues – it looks fantastic, and once it’s going, is smokeless. And did I mention that you could probably run over it with a tank and it would be fine?

Design and features
The most obvious aspect of this firepit is how robust the construction is. It arrived very well packaged, but I felt bad for the UPS guy who had to lug it onto my front porch. Most firepits on the market are made from sheet steel that is pretty thin.
The Breeo is made from plate steel, and is SOLID. It’s also very heavy, which is most cases, is a good thing (I would not consider this to be a portable fire pit, although they do make a portable model). It’s all thick plate steel, with stainless steel on the rim and the legs, and Corten steel for the firepit itself (a full stainless model is also available). Corten steel, also known as weathered steel, is designed to weather to a protective finish and is very corrosion resistant. That weathering process can take a few months, so mine is not quite there yet, but on the way. The fire pit features air inlets in the bottom which provides plenty of oxygen for a good burn, and a double-wall system which injects heated air into the top of the fire pit, burning the smoke before it exits the pit, thus making it smokeless (once the fire gets going). Many accessories are available, such as a spark screen, lid, base, and flattop griddle.
Performance
Great fires and great memories come easy with the Breeo X24. If you start off with good dry wood and plenty of kindling, fires start quick and hot. But they don’t start off smokeless. You have to really fill the fire pit with fire and heat the sides to turn on the thermal siphon that pulls cool air in to the double-wall chamber, heats it rapidly, and then injects it into the fire pit through the holes at the top. Once hot, this system really works amazingly well, but if you allow the fire to get small and cool, it will get smoky once again. It has to be hot to work effectively, but you’ll know when it’s working. You’ll see jets of fire coming out of those holes.
Breeo also sent the base, ash shovel, spark screen, and flattop griddle. All are incredibly well built and ready for a lifetime of outdoor use (except the flattop griddle – you don’t’ want to leave that outside because you don’t want it to rust).
The griddle is very heavy plate carbon steel that cooks food evenly and with a great char. The spark screen is all stainless and has a handle that folds half up to allow for refueling of the fire pit.
It’s clear that all of Breeo’s products are built to last, and to be durable. They are built by hand in Lancaster, PA. I don’t expect to ever need to buy another fire pit, ever. And my kids probably won’t need to either.
Final thoughts
The Breeo X24 Smokeless fire pit is attractive, well built, and heavy enough to withstand just about anything you throw at it. It will likely outlast you!
